Oxfordshire's Independent Psychology Service offers assessment of and treatment for a wide range of psychological problems, including:

  • Anxiety problems, such as panic and fears
  • Phobias, such as agoraphobia or social phobia
  • Depression and other mood disturbance problems
  • Obsessional behaviour and thoughts, including obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
  • Eating problems, such as bulimia nervosa or obesity
  • Bereavement and loss
  • Coping with chronic illnesses, such as chronic pain, ME, MS, cancer, diabetes and others
  • Low self-esteem and lack in confidence
  • Family or partnership problems
  • Personal or emotional problemsTherapy

Specialist stress and trauma therapy

The Oxford Development Centre also has it's own Stress and Trauma Service, The Oxford Stress and Trauma Centre. This provides help to people who are suffering from the psychological effects of traumatic and stressful life-events, including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Service for children and adolescents

We also offer a service to children and adolescents suffering from any of the above psychological problems, as well as for:-

  • Bullying and relationship problems
  • Exam stress
Educational assessment work

We offer specialist educational assessments (and can also advise teachers), as part of our service for children and adolescents. These can be requested for a number of reasons including:-

  • Underachievement at school
  • Hyperactivity
  • Attention deficit disorder (ADD)

Service for students

We offer places for students at a reduced price (proof of student status will be required). This discount does not apply in cases where parents are able to financially support their children's therapy. Please contact us for further information.

Personal development work

This service may benefit people who feel that they are unfulfilled in their present life and career choices and who would like to use therapy as a way of understanding themselves better in order to make more informed choices. The use of the Personality Questionnaires, such as the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), form a helpful part of this service.

Supervision, training and education

Oxfordshire's Independent Psychology Service offers one-to-one as well as group clinical supervision to other therapists and professionals. Supervision on CBT and EMDR practice can be offered by registered and accredited practitioners.

We also offer training workshops in topics relating to a wide range of psychological problems. These workshops are suitable for therapists, healthcare professionals, professional interest groups, healthcare and voluntary services, business and organizational settings. Example topic areas in the past have included:

  • Working with severe childhood abuse
  • Stress management for senior managers in organizations

  • Looking after ourselves
