Claudia Herbert, BSc(Hons), MSc, DClin Psychol, AFBPsS
is the Director of The Oxford Development Centre, which she
formed in March 1998. She is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist,
an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (British
Psychological Society - reg. no: 31999) and a UKCP (United
Kingdom Council for Psychotherapies - reg. no: 940 283)
Registered Cognitive-Behavioural Therapist (BABCP reg.
no: 934 342). She is a Consultant in Eye
Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). She
is a BUPA, PPP and Norwich Union Healthcare recognized
practitioner. Claudia won a number of academic awards for her research and obtained a First Class Honours' degree in Psychology from University College London before continuing her training at Master's level in Clinical Psychology. In 1992 she underwent specialist training in the assessment and psychological treatment of people suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder ( PTSD) at the Traumatic Stress Clinic in London. There she worked with the survivors of the Kings Cross Fire, the Marchioness Disaster, the IRA Victoria Station Bombing, the Gulf War victims of torture and many other traumas. Later Claudia moved to Oxford to work in the Psychology Department of the Warneford Hospital. She became a specialist in the field of post trauma reactions, in connection with which she has presented at conferences, trained, lectured, researched, supervised and prepared medico-legal reports. She is actively engaged in a number of professional organizations and sits on the Editorial Board of the Journal: Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy. She has received media attention, such as in local and national newspapers, radio and T.V. In 1996, she published her first client self-help booklet, "Understanding your reactions to trauma". This was also published in Japan in April 1999 and in January 2000 in Turkey, where it was distributed to 30,000 survivors of the Turkish Earthquake. Her latest book "Overcoming Traumatic Stress", which she co-authored with Ann Wetmore was published worldwide by Robinson Publishing Ltd in June 1999. Organizational Consultancy Since 1994 Claudia has been working as an organizational consultant, predominantly at senior management levels with multi-national companies in both the private and public sector. She has worked with leading companies, in a wide variety of markets, such as financial services and banking, insurance companies, leisure and food industries, as well as manufacturing companies. One of Claudia's strength lies in the individual design and delivery of tailored development programs. She is trained in the use of a number of current assessment tools, such as Myers Briggs Type Indicator, Management Performance Indicators, 360º Feedback Questionnaires, as well as in the writing of reports. She is also interested in embedding principles from different Eastern approaches into her work. She founded Psychology for Business, as part of the Oxford Development Centre in March 1998. |
