Details:
Do you suffer from panic or anxiety? Do you have a phobia that stops you from leading a normal life?
We all have worries, but when they begin to affect our everyday lives then we need to learn how to deal with them. With over 40 years' experience in clinical psychiatry, Isaac Marks provides a unique blend of inspiration and practical guidance for people who suffer from recurring anxieties, phobias, obsessions and compulsive rituals.
By drawing on case histories and experiences, many told in the sufferer's own words, Living with Fear takes a detailed look at the various kinds of symptoms most commonly encountered today, such as fear of heights, airplanes, germs, insects, crowds, as well as severe depression, grief and sexual anxiety. The book describes in simple layperson's terms the professional treatments, both physical and psychological, now available. It also has an available step-by-step self-help section for those wanting to treat themselves.
This book will help you to:

- Understand the difference between normal and abnormal anxieties
- Recognise when you need to seek professional help and when you can treat yourself
- Find self-help organisations and useful websites around the world.
- Understand the range of medication available and the recommended doses

Now, in this second edition, Living with Fear has won critical acclaim throughout the world and been translated into ten languages. It has provided informative and reassuring help to sufferers, their families and friends, and health-care professionals.
Comments:

"In this superb second edition, Isaac Marks has distilled the essence of new knowledge about anxieties. His writing, like Churchill's, should win prizes for its clarity and intrinsic beauty. Living with Fear is a book for all who want help in overcoming anxiety and fear."
Dr. John Greist, Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, University of Wisconsin
"This new edition sets out even more clearly the steps to take towards overcoming a phobic problem. A universal book for sufferers, carers and professionals alike."
Joan Bond, Development Director of Triumph Over Phobia (TOP U.K.)
"If you suffer from any form of anxiety or tension, or hope to treat these problems, you owe it to yourself to read this marvellous book."
Lee Baer, Ph.D, Associate Professor of Psychology, Harvard Medical School
"This book is an indispensable aid if you are troubled by anxiety, or care about someone else who is. It covers the gamut from clinic-based therapies to a self-help treatment section."
Ken Kirby, Professor of Psychiatry, University of Tasmania, Australia
